Description

The R.W. Murray Co. Special Projects group was selected through a negotiated bid process to complete the interior sanctuary renovation for repeat client, St. Veronica’s Catholic Church. This project was completed on time in just under eight weeks and was performed without shutting down any functioning areas of the sanctuary. Special hands-on coordination was required between our team and the church and its Facilities Director to ensure there were no interruptions to the daily operations of the church.

The project began with the demolition of the existing carpet, stage area, steps and handrails. The additional scope of work included the furnishing and installment of all millwork, featuring archways and molding at each light cove, as well as drywall, new steps at the sanctuary stage entry, new flooring and carpet, and fresh paint throughout the entire space. One of the main highlights from the renovation was the imported Italian marble tile, meticulously and beautifully laid at the center aisle and on the steps and ramps of both sides of the sanctuary. The most challenging aspect of the renovation was the removal of the statue depicting Jesus Christ on the cross. The team was able to successfully remove the near 600 lb. statue from its original site and carefully and safely relocate it to the back wall of the sanctuary, where it is now prominently displayed and properly supported by reinforced steel brackets.
