Project Overview:

R.W. Murray Co. was proud to partner once again with our repeat client, Novant Health UVA Health System, to deliver the new Cath Lab #2 at Prince William Medical Center in Manassas, Virginia. This 1,500 SF renovation transformed phased-out support space into a state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization lab and support areas—within a section of the hospital never originally designed to house such a complex service unit.

Structural clearances posed significant challenges, requiring extensive collaboration between the client, design team, and R.W. Murray Co. Every equipment support, conduit, duct, and light fixture was coordinated with precision—fitting together like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.

A highlight of the project was the hoisting and installation of a 31,000-pound, 20,000 CFM custom air handling unit, serving both the new Cath Lab #2 and the existing Cath Lab #1. This required extensive MEP demolition, rerouting, and reconfiguration to ensure seamless performance of the entire system.

From coordinating with medical equipment vendors to involving nurses and doctors in final finish selections, this project exemplified a true team effort. The result is a highly specialized, modernized Cath Lab that repurposes unused space to advance patient care for the entire community.
