Moves to New Location
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. – July 1, 2010 -- R.W. Murray Co., a privately-held general contracting firm located in Manassas, Virginia, today announced the completion of the new 32,000 SF Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) training facility. The new facility is located in the former Circuit City store off of Route 234 business in Manassas, VA.
The facility includes 16,000 SF of new administrative offices and state-of-the-art training rooms as well as 16,000 SF of high-bay open training area. All of the training areas in the facility allow AIM’s instructors to provide the real-time, hands-on electronic and mechanical aviation equipment maintenance training required to meet stringent FAA requirements.
Prior to the start of the reconfiguration efforts, a complete demolition of the entire interior of the facility was required. Careful planning and implementation by the R.W. Murray team was required during the demolition process to incorporate the strategic re-use of existing mechanical and electrical components from the original facility to meet budget requirements for the project. Modifications to the exterior of the facility were also performed including installation of exterior screening materials, re-painting of the entire exterior of the building as well as installation of an 18 ft. tall x 30 ft. long hangar door at the rear of the facility to provide access for aircraft used during the classroom training exercises."It is our pleasure to assist AIM as they expand their presence in our local community,” stated Steve Daves, president of R.W.
